As of this afternoon all schools and universities in Italy are to remain closed for two weeks until March 16th. This means that for Friuli Venezia Giulia kids it will be a month-long vacation taking into account that schools here have already been closed here for the past two weeks, out of an abundance of caution. As for Trieste, the active cases have risen to 4 and all of these cases are now quarantining at home, as per regulation.
The rule of thumb here is to keep up the good hygiene and remain as calm as possible. And if you are a parent, check your employer’s paid leave policy if you have to stay home from work.
But how have your daily habits changed in the past few weeks? Do you still shake hands & kiss your friends on both cheeks (ah, Italy!), and even occasionally give them that big hug? Or do you follow the recent governmental suggestion of “tapping on the shoulder” as the ultimate virus-friendly form of greeting?
