Kids in Trieste and in the rest of Italy will most likely not go back to school until September.
It will come as no surprise to most that May 3rd will not be the grand reopening we’ve all been waiting for. In fact, it is very likely that some measures will remain the same.
Italy’s education minister Lucia Azzolina in his interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera on 17 April stated that Italian schools will not reopen in May. The minister underlined that the coronavirus situation is still too risky to consider reopening Italy’s schools and that the government will officially decide on this within the next few days.
Friuli Venezia Giulia’s governor Fedriga, who was one of the first governors of Italy to close the schools on February 24th, in his speech to the local TV last Thursday underlined that the opening of schools in May is very unlikely.
University of Trieste and SISSA will continue to offer online classes as well as online exams throughout summer and some courses at the University will remain online throughout the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year.
