Governor Massimiliano Fedriga said Sunday that schools will only reopen in September but many businesses will resume this week as the country emerges from a near-total coronavirus shutdown.

We are timidly entering the second phase in Friuli Venezia Giulia this Monday, April 27th, one week before the rest of Italy. Governor Fedriga signed a new decree on Sunday, April 26th that will be valid through May 3d.

“We are not yet in a position to restore full freedom of movement, but we are studying a relaxation of the current, strict regime,” Fedriga said.

Opening FVG Up

The main rules don’t change: you are still allowed to go out for work related reasons, to buy food, medice or exercise, always armed with self-certification. You are to wear a mask at all times and keep at least one meter distance from other people.

All types of gatherings are strictly prohibited.

You can now buy food, medicine and exercise within the limit of your town or comune (at any distance from home) as long as you follow social distancing of at least one meter.

You are not however allowed to use your car to just go for a ride (or say, to reach Barcola for a walk), unless you are going to work, to buy food or medicine.

It is now allowed to go out for a swim in Barcola and summer in Trieste will probably look something like this.

Bars, pizzerias, and restaurants are allowed to have take away service. Order via phone and pick up in a predetermined time frame.

All parks and playgrounds will remain closed for the time being. Some cemeteries, including Cemetero di Sant Anna, will be reopened.

You are now allowed to get to your boats to fix maintenance issues.

“We are not yet in a position to restore full freedom of movement,” Fedriga told Rai News on Sunday, “But it is highly important to believe in our citizens and in our companies and give them the chance to reopen as soon as possible.”
