Italy fixed the final section of the Genoa bridge, offering a ray of hope to the virus-hit Italian nation.
Italian premier Giuseppe Conte attended a ceremony on Tuesday, April 28th to mark the placement of the final part of Genoa’s new road bridge, built in record time to replace the structure that collapsed in 2018 resulting in 43 fatalities.
Speaking at the ceremony on 28 April, Conte said: “This cannot be a day of celebration because it derives from a tragedy but the Genoa model radiates a light that gives hope to the whole of Italy.”
The prime minister hailed the construction project in the north-western port city as “stitching up a wound”, with both sides of the Polcevera valley now connected once again.
