The post by Easyjet, a low-cost airline company, about the Lamezia Airport in Calabria enraged Italians.
“This region suffers from a clear lack of tourists due to its history of mafia and earthquakes, and the lack of iconic cities like Rome and Venice which would attract Instagram fans” was written on the Easyjet’s official website.

This post , which was probably meant as a joke, unleashed a real storm on social media and the web.
“Easyjet has to apologize to Calabria and Italy. There is nothing more to add,” wrote the Minister for the South, Giuseppe Provenzano, in a tweet.
Eventually, the post was changed with an apologetic message:
“The Easyjet Company apologizes to all Calabrian people and the Calabria Region for the description contained in the information sheet inside the site”, Easyjet stated in a note, in which it explains that the original intent of the text was to explain why Calabria was underrated in the tourist world.

People are often well intentioned in what they say, but don’t aways know how to say it.
