New FVG Decree Out Today: Physical Distance, Travel and Health Measures

Friuli Venezia Giulia’s governor Massimiliano Fedriga signed a new decree last night, 31 July 2020that will have validity until September 30th. 

The new decree essentially extends the safety measures that have been in effect to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Face coverings and physical distances:

  • The rule that individuals 6 years old and older must wear face coverings in indoor spaces accessible to the public and outdoors when it is not possible to continuously guarantee one meter of physical distance between non-cohabitants is still in place.
  • Face coverings should be worn outside from 6 pm to 6 am daily. 
  • You must continue to wear face coverings in public transportation and in private automobiles if you cannot maintain one meter of physical distance with non-cohabitants.
  • The shape of a mask should ensure proper coverage from the chin all the way to above the nose.
  • One meter of physical distance should be measured from mouth to mouth of the individuals concerned.

Health Measures:

  • Those with a respiratory infection and a fever of 37.5℃/99.5℉ must remain at their residence and contact their healthcare provider.
  • It is still forbidden for persons accompanying patients to remain in the waiting rooms of the emergency and admission departments, unless otherwise specified by the healthcare personnel in charge.

Cinemas, entertainment venues, sports:

  • Spectators are allowed at outdoor and indoor sports events, but there must be an open seat between fixed seats; where there are no fixed seats (such as when spectators stand or sit on terraces, steps, bleachers), spectators must maintain at least one meter of physical distance between non-cohabitating persons or groups.
  • Theaters and entertainment venues may also continue to utilize their full capacity following the same rules for seating in the bullet above for sporting events.
  • Parks, playgrounds, and public gardens remain open to minors and family members or members of the minors’ household (including those taking care of minors) to engage in play and recreational activities outdoors.
  • Other indoor and outdoor facilities for recreational and educational activities (formal and informal) for minors remain open, including to persons needed to operate the facilities and care for the minors.
  • Individuals may continue to engage in general sports activities, which are carried out at gyms, swimming pools, public and private sports centers and clubs, or at other facilities where activities aimed at the well-being of the individual are carried out through physical exercise, but must wear a face covering over their nose or mouth or maintain a physical distance of one (1) meter from non-cohabitating individuals and ensure they do not engage in a gathering at any time.
  • Groups may continue to engage in sports (including contact sports) or motor activities, buta two (2) meter physical distance must be maintained by non-cohabitants at all times when not required by the sports activity itself (unless a companion is required for a minor or a person who is not self-sufficient). 

Religious activities:

  • Places of worship remain open; however, each organization must ensure that a physical distance of 1 meter can be maintained by non-cohabitating individuals and groups.

Travel and movement:

  •  There are no restrictions within Italy including for recreational and tourist travel. Self-certification may be required in regions outside of the Fruili-Venezia Giulia (FVG) region.
  • 14-day restriction of movement is required for those coming from abroad, except for citizens/residents of EU countries, the Schengen area, the United Kingdom, and Northern Ireland, Andorra, Monaco, Republic of San Marino, and Vatican City State do not require a 14-day quarantine.
  • Entry into Italy is more limited for those who have stayed or transited through Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bosnia Herzegovina, Brazil, Chile, Kuwait, North Macedonia, Moldova, Oman, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia, but may be permitted in certain cases of absolute urgency, health needs, study needs, and return to one’s home or residence.
  • All coming back to Italy from Croatia, Spain, Malta and Romania are to self-quarantine for 14 days.
  • A private means of transport (including taxis) must be used to transit from the airport to the residence.
