The prefect of Trieste, Valerio Valenti, declared at the press conference on Tuesday morning that masks will be mandatory at all times during the Barcolana week.

The plan was approved by FVG’s president, Massimiliano Fedriga.

“We have worked hard together to guarantee an event that could take place, and already that is a success.” Said Valenti.”Now our duty to the rest of the country and to the rest of the world is to make this event as safe as possible.”

Meanwhile, Mitja Gialuz, the patron of Barcolana, is excited about the number of boats that will race on 11 October.

“We have officially become the biggest regatta in the world that counts 1000 boats as of today”. Boats can register to take part in the regatta until 1 October.
