Friuli Venezia-Giulia’s president, Massimiliano Fedriga, called for collective responsibility amid a recent surge of new virus cases, reports Italian news agency ANSA.

“A new phase of emergency appears to be approaching and as of now we are able to manage it,” the president said. “However, we don’t have a crystal ball. The new decree will put restrictions on the nightlife. I hope we will not need to impose stricter measures, but that depends on our residents and their sense of responsibility.”

“Right now our goal is to protect our citizens but also their jobs,” said Fedriga in his recent interview on Radio1.”My worry is that, if we are forced to close dow, we will have piazzas full of people protesting because they can’t make ends meet”.

Underlining the need for responsibility in relation to “behavior, face masks, and distancing,” Fedriga urged people to avoid unnecessary social contacts so as to “not undermine the collective effort”.
