Rarely seen moonfish was spotted in the gulf of Trieste in the early hours of 17 October by one of the fisherman in the area.

“I was able to snap a few pictures before it went back down”, the fisherman said “the lower fin was really big whereas the upper fin was missing, probably due to some boat accident.”

Moonfish can be as big as a manhole cover and swim as fast as tuna or swordfish. Its appearance in the gulf of Trieste is rare.
