Another peaceful protest took place in Trieste on Friday, 30 October, after Italian government plunged Italy back into the so-called “mini lockdown” ordering all cinemas and theaters to close across the country.
About 500 representatives of the Trieste entertainment industry took to the streets early Friday morning pleading the government to spare an exhausted sector that has already been brought to its knees.

The Italian government’s decision, which affects all those in the performing arts and cinema, will remain in effect until at least 24 November, and possibly much longer.

The participants asked the government to provide resources to “survive this difficult period”.
Many were present in Piazza Unità on a sunny Friday morning showing their indignation with the current decree. Among the many, councilor for culture and sport, G. Rossi, directors of Rossetti and Verdi theaters and others.

“We are the “end credits”, but you will not dim our light” read one of the posters.

Italy’s new coronavirus restrictions come as a devastating blow to the cultural sector which was just getting back on its feet after a very difficult year.
