New Italian decree was signed on 4 December by PM Conte that will have validity until January 15.
The new national decree maintains the previous color-coded regional scheme (yellow, orange and red) and includes specific measures that apply nationwide for the weeks leading up to Christmas and New Year’s.
While Friuli Venezia Giulia will go back to the yellow zone on Sunday, 06 December, the new state decree will remain valid until January 15 nationwide.
The new measures include the following:
The national curfew is from 10 pm to 5 am everyday (exception: proven work, necessity, or health reasons).
From 21 December 2020 to 6 January 2021 travel between regions is prohibited (exceptions: proven work needs, necessity, or health reasons).
On 25 December 2020, 26 December 2020, and 1 January 2021, travel outside of the municipality in which you reside is prohibited (exceptions: proven work needs, necessity, or health reasons).
From 10 pm on 31 December 2020 to 7 am on 1 January 2021, all travel is prohibited (exceptions: proven work, necessity, or health reasons).
Masks and Gatherings
The rules regarding masks and gatherings remain the same.
Shopping
From 4 December to 6 January, retail stores in yellow and orange can remain open until 9 pm.
Sports
Ski lift areas will be closed until 6 January, after which time the regions may establish protocols for reopening.
Schools
After 7 January 2021, high schools in yellow and orange regions can return to 75% capacity for in-person learning. Elementary schools will remain open for in-person learning.
Travel
From 10 December to 20 December and then again from 7 January to 15 January, those who have visited or been to any EU or Schengen country, as well as the UK and Northern Ireland, will have to provide a negative COVID test upon arrival in Italy or will have to quarantine for 14 days. The test must be taken within 48 hours prior to entry into Italy.
From 21 December until 6 January, tourists (meaning travel is not for the purpose of work, health, necessity, study, or return home) who have visited or been to any EU or Schengen country, as well as the UK and Northern Ireland, will have to quarantine for 14 days upon return to Italy.
