Made entirely out of sand, Lignano’s Nativity Scene is a sight to see.

Organized by the Dome Aghe Savalon d’Aur Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro and local associations, the Sand Nativity of Lignano Sabbiadoro it is now in its 17th edition.

The organizers say that “Lignano’s Sand Nativity is not a banal aesthetic operation, but a conscious message of hope and rebirth” which “embodies the meaning of Christmas.”

The Nativity Scene can be visited virtually here and in Lignano Sabbiadoro until easter, from Monday to Friday. Free entrance but reservations are necessary.
