“Trieste will no longer be described as a melancholic city but a city of innovation,” said Omar Monestier, the newly appointed director of Il Piccolo. “It’s time to get back on our feet and look forward to a new and brighter future of our city.”
Monestier was referring to a recent presentation “Venezia Giulia 2025. Strategy and Competitive Action”, carried out by The European House – Ambrosetti commissioned by the Chamber of Commerce of the former provinces of Trieste and Gorizia.
What’s in store for Trieste and FVG in the years to come?
FVG’s president Massimiliano Fedriga, while chatting with the so-called think tanks of our city during the said conference, revealed that the Port of Trieste (and with it, the rest of FVG) will branch out towards Austria, Hungary and Central Europe thus making Trieste a “logistics platform” – a revival of the idea of maximizing the geographical advantage of our coastal city which was neglected for decades after WWII. Fedriga underlined that not only China, but the Far East in general will become strategic partners for our city through numerous industries.
FVG president’s vision goes hand in hand with the current project of Port Authority and its head Zeno D’Agostino, and the changes taking place at the infrastructural level.
Fedriga finished his speech by remembering ESOF 2020 and saying that “one of our goals is to make sure the research context of our region can be translated into business and work.”
“We are stepping into an exciting future”, added Omar Monestier “future that will bring our region back its long forgotten glory.”
