Italy passed the milestone of 50 million Covid vaccinations administered on Monday 28 June, the same day as the whole country became a low-risk white zone and mask-wearing outdoors became optional.

The news was announced by health minister Roberto Speranza who said Italy’s goal is to “vaccinate all Italians who want it with the first dose by the end of the summer.”

President of FVG Massimiliano Fedriga said that our region’s vaccination campaign is its “real weapon” against covid, particularly in light of the threat posed by more aggressive variants of the virus, reports Italian news agency ANSA.

Fedriga added that “we must continue on the path of prudence and caution because the battle is not yet won, the virus still circulates significantly.”
