Dog owners rejoyce: Barcola will finally get a dog beach in Spring 2022, said councilor Lorenzo Giorgi during a press conference.
The beach will be located betwen Cedas and Il Pane Quotiddiano terrace. Each day until dusk dogs will be able to play and run around freely but remain the direct responsibility of their owners who will need to ensure the animals always have access to drinking water and shade.
A few simple rules will apply: only non-aggressive dogs will be welcome which generally are not required to be kept on a leash, puppies under three months and female dogs in heat will not permitted, dogs will need to possess their required identification microchip, and owners will need to present an up-to-date record of each dog’s vaccination history.
“There are twenty three thousand dogs registererd in Comune di Trieste,” said Giorgi, himself a dog owner “and we are doing this for them, as well as to make our city ever more livable.”
The works will cost 250 thousand euros and should be completed by spring 2022.
