Trieste’s center-right mayor Roberto Dipiazza has been re-elected after winning more than 52 per cent of the vote in the run-off local elections against center-left candidate Francesco Russo.
Dipiazza, who has been mayor of Trieste for the last five years, beat the centre-left candidate Francesco Russo who claimed 48 per cent.
The re-election of Dipiazza reflects a wider trend among the centre-right, with mayoral victories in Muggia and other Friuli Venezia Giulia’s cities.
