Patron of Barcolana regatta, Mitja Gialuz, along with Tiziana Benussi, president of CRT organization, have launched a petition to bring back Trieste its good name.

The petition reads:

“In the past weeks our city has been the stage of many manifestations against Green Pass. So much so that Trieste got the reputation of the “No Green Pass” capital, making it the center of the unscientific world.

Trieste is not this. And we are here to prove it.

Trieste is the Italian capital of science which it trusts completely. It’s a city which suffered the pandemic greatly, which lost many of its citizens, which in turn brought a lot of suffering to many people as well as the local economy.

Trieste is a community of rational and responsible people, who know that the storm can only be weathered together by being responsible and conscientious of everyone’s actions.

The vaccine gives us our freedom back. The freedom to be cured. The freedom to work and to make progress. The freedom to study in the classrooms and inside universities. The freedom to continue with our hobbies and with our social lives. The freedom to do sport and travel.

Those who are fighting against the vaccine and green pass are putting these freedoms as well as the health of Trieste’s citizens in danger, not to mention the damage to the economic situation.

We would like to make the voice of many citizens who got the vaccine heard. These people have put everyone’s safety first, as well as fulfilled their duty as citizens of Trieste.

The time has come to call on everyone’s responsibility.

Mitja Gialuz and Tiziana Benussi.”
