It will soon be looking a lot like Christmas in Trieste with the festive lights due to be switched on Saturday night.

Nothing signifies the approach of Christmas in Trieste like the glow of seasonal street lights. The 16.800 lights will be turned on this Saturday at 5.30 pm along with 140 musical tracks to accompany Triestini this winter season in Piazza Unità.

The most famous tunes which will accompany our winter in Trieste are “Imagine” by Lennon, “La cura” by Battiato , “All I want for Christmas is you” by Mariah Carey, “Il giovanotto matto” by Lelio Luttazzi and others.

The event will mark the opening on the city’s Christmas market where stalls will line the streets once again, selling delicious baked goods, pretty gifts and more. The official opening of Christmas markets will take place on Tuesday, 7 December.
