Award Time at Trieste Film Festival

Celebrating days of the film art in Trieste reached its culminating point last night at Il Rosseti theater, when the members of the jury presented awards.

The Trieste award went to Radu Muntean’s “Intregalde”, which explores the limits of empathy in circumstances requiring sacrifice. The Jury Prize for the Best Feature Film comes with five thousand euro prize for the Romanian author.

“Factory to the workers” by Croatian director Srdjan Kovacevic won Alpe-Adria Cinema Award for the Best Documentary. This film testifies to a decade long struggle of workers in the ITAS plant against capital economy and production shutdown.

The story of post war ping pong club in Kosovo “Pa Vend” by Samir Karahoda was awarded in competition for the Best Short Film sponsored by Osiride Brovedani Foundation.

“Dal Pianeta degli Umani” won Corso Salani Award as the Best Movie of the Section offered by The Trieste Film Festival, Associazione Corso Salani and Vivo Film.

Central European Initiative Award went to Serbian Film “Celts” by Milica Tomovic for the movie that best represents contemporary world and the dialogue among cultures.

The Award for the Best Documentary in the competition was assigned to “Looking for horses”   directed by Stefan Pavlovic. Bosnian author prized with Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa Award tells the story about the friendship between a filmmaker and fisherman. 

Miroslav Smidmajer’s Milan Kundera: “From the Joke to Insignificance” was assigned Sky Arte Prize for the best film of the section “Art&Sound”.

“Of Gates and of Deserts” by Loredana Bianconi took TENK Award, while Cineuropa Prize went to “Looking for Venera” by Norika Sefa. The youth jury woted “Samoglow” directed by Jacub Prysak for PAG Award intended for the Best Short film in the competition.

Charming authors of “Women do cry”, Mina Mileva and Vesela Kazakova, with their team, were greeted by audience’s warm applause. Bulgarian authors were prized by jury for best women director film with Audentia Aurimages Award. Very emotional, they thanked for the prise and pointed out that takes courage to make a movie if you are a woman in today’s film industry. 

Audience awards for the best feature film, documentary and short movie went to Serbian author Dusan Milic’s “Darkling”, “The Balcony movie” directed by Pavel Lozinski from Poland and Italian “Big” by Daniele Pini.

Trieste film festival will continue to present films online for the next few days, but until 34rd edition of the Festival we will have a plenty of movies to watch, recommended by this years expert jury.
