by In Trieste
A largely forgotten borderland after World War I, Trieste seems to be back to being the flourishing port in the Adriatic, as Il Sole 24 Ore confirms and states that many Italians moved to our city in 2021.
Those who visit Trieste these days find a blend of cultures and languages of Europe, with a rich literary legacy — a city that’s lured great authors from Ranier Maria Rilke to James Joyce. Not only authors recently, as it became the number one city for Italians to move to in 2021, according to Il Sole 24.
In the annual report by Istat, Trieste has become the mecca of most Italians, with +13,5% residency requests in 2021.
Trieste is followed by Piacenza and Bologna.
