A large fire flared up early morning in the Duino area resulting in railway and highway closure
Railway traffic has been interrupted as of 12:30 pm this afternoon in the stretch of Monfalcone- Trieste and the motorway junction in both directions, always in the Monfalcone area.
The firefighters who are working in an attempt to put out the flames have already rushed to the place, not far from the A4 motorway.

After days of anomalous heat and bora wind, a large-scale fire affected the Dunino area, forcing the temporary closure of sections of the motorway and evacuations.
There are crowds of tourists at the Lisert motorway barrier. Witnesses on the spot reported seeing flames several meters high. The technicians are checking the situation to prevent the fire from reaching the highway.
As for the rail traffic, the lines Venice-Trieste and Trieste-Udine have been suspended in the section between Monfalcone and Bivio d’Aurisina.
The staff of the last trains that passed through the area reported flames adjacent to the railway site. RFI has made it known that a replacement bus service has been activated.
