We always wait with excitement for the presentation of the new season at the Verdi theater. Opening their pamphlet is like opening a box of chocolate, and just like last time – season 2022-2023 preview didn’t disappoint.

Verdi theater presented 2022-2023 season composed of 6 magnificent operas, the staple of Verdi theater season in Trieste.

Regional councilor for culture, Tiziana Gibelli opened the conference by saying: “This season will take us back to grand operas, despite the ongoing fame of cutting out great classics due to violence represented. We are all called to combat this immense stupidity of censuring the great classics. Let’s continue living as we should so that everyone can do what they want.”

Verdi’s superintended Giuliano Polo, added: “We are following the antique tradition to inaugurate the season even before La Scala in November. We’ll do it with Othello – a great comeback for this important opera. We are also very aware of the financial difficulty of our audience so we are introducing more discounts this season, especially for the season ticket holders. Our goal is to get the pre-pandemic audience back.”

Artistic director, Paolo Rodda added “Among all the magnificent operas on offer this season, I would like to underline Prokofiev’s ballet “Romeo & Juliette” in collaboration with Ljubljana theater. Great professionals, a performance worth going to. “

Teatro Verdi’s opera season will open with Othello, followed by la Boheme, Macbeth, Capuleti and Montecchi, Romeo & Juliette, Orfeo ed Euridice, and will finish with Turandot. For more information, please visit: http://www.teatroverdi-trieste.com/en/.
