Lake Fusine (or Laghi di Fusine) is one of those must-see places if you live in Friuli Venezia Giulia or if you’re just passing through it.
Nestled in the beautiful Julian Alps, the lake changes colors depending on the season. In winter you will see white mountain ranges reflected in the lake and in the fall the gorgeous leafs falling on emerald-like streams.
About 2,5 hours drive from Trieste on a scenic highway, Laghi di Fusine is a perfect weekend getaway. Start early and bring water and snacks if you want to hike up to Lago Superiore. Or bring your bike and stop for a lunch with a breathtaking view of Lago Inferiore.
