The Barcolana International Jury decided to open two proceedings: a protest against Ewol – Way of life and a Rule 69 procedure (misconduct) against Furio Benussi, skipper of Arca.
The International Jury’s protest against Way Of Life followed the in-depth investigations carried out after Way of Life itself had yesterday filed a report against Benussi under Rule 69: in its analysis of the case, the International Jury found that on board the Slovenian boat one of the crew members had not been included – as required – in the crew list. Having verified the fact in yesterday’s hearing, although it emerged that it was a clerical error by the crew – Way of Life was disqualified.
The procedure opened by the International Jury against Furio Benussi, skipper of Arca, concerns Rule 69 (misconduct). The findings of this hearing and the conclusions of the International Jury are not public, while the verdict is public and consists of the International Jury’s decision to disqualify the boat from the regatta.
As a result of the International Jury’s decisions, behind the winner Deep Blue, second place – which is awarded to Portopiccolo Prosecco DOC – and third place, which goes to Maxi Jena, change. The ranking remains provisional until the International Jury has completed its work.
