Amid rising rates of mental health issues and a lack of access, primarily due to financial limitations, the Friuli Venezia Giulia government has proposed a bonus to fund psychological therapy to students from middle school to university level, regional councilor for education Alessia Rosolen told press on Tuesday.
“This is an added bonus for the region of FVG,” said regional councilor for education Alessia Rosolen. “We see this as an opportunity, a bonus that can be useful to all students. Various students from middle school to university after the pandemics have had difficulty returning back to studies. I’m not convinced that this is the only solution, but one of the many ways to help out.”
“All students, regardless of family’s income, can access the bonus,” added Rosolen. “It’s a direct integration in the school system of FVG.”
The inclusion of the bonus sees financial aid of €250 available to all middle school to university students, who are suffering from mental health conditions that may (or may not) have been caused by the pandemic, lockdown, or isolation from friends, family, and colleagues.
Families across FVG have been able to sign up for the psychological bonus starting from 5 July. The bonus has to be used within 4 months of receiving the code. “We have had great success with thes bonuses. Most students who ask for it are 14-16 year old girls,” added Rosolen.
The students only need to pay 25 euro to get the 250 value bonus. The parent will need to send a request via an online platform by declaring that their kid goes to a school in FVG region. After that, a confirmation email will be sent which will put families in contact with the psychologists.
The deadline to apply is 30 November 2022 with expiration at the end of 2023. If for some reason the family will not want to use the four appointments, they will be required to pay the full price.
