It is officially Italy’s hottest year in the past 222 years, reports ilMeteo.it, with the unseasonably warm spell set to last until November.
The unseasonably warm spell, which is spurred by the latest anticyclone from Africa, is bringing with it weather more typical to early spring months.
The warm temperatures – set to peak at 22 degrees in the days leading up to Halloween – also means an extended season for mosquitoes.
2022 is Italy’s hottest and driest year since records began in 1800, according to the National Research Council’s Institute of Atmosphere and Climate Science.
