The unseasonably warm weather made most Triestini head to Barcola to enjoy plenty of sun and refreshing breezes this last October 2022 weekend.
Most famous stretch of concrete, known as the best walk in the winter time and the best place to get a tan in the warm days, has turned into the early fall mecca for most locals once again.
Saturday morning kids and families spent their day relaxing by one of the Topolini parts of Barcola beach.
At the end of the concrete stretch Bivio, many a Triesto were working on their impeccable tans. By 10 am Barcola was already packed full of bathers, tanners and locals having their first morning capo-in-b while chatting away in Triestino.
“Barcola is the essence of Triestine,” one of the bathers told us in Triestine dialect. “We get on the bus and in 15 minutes we’re here. We spend all day lounging around, gossiping, eating and drinking. That’s life.”
