Friday night at the Verdi was a swirl of energy, activity and promise for a thrilling performance ahead. Glitter, silk and perfumes filled the foyer as the crowd gathered for the 2022-2023 season’s opening.
As the curtain rose, a symbolic and important moment in the theatrical experience, the audience was immersed in Verdi’s ‘Othello’ through magnificent music by the composer impeccably performed by the orchestra.
Musical director Daniel Oren along with Giulio Ciabatti welcomed us into the tormented world of the main characters, magnificently portrayed by Arsen Soghomonyan (Othello) , Lianna Haroutounian (Desdemona), Roman Burdenko (Jago) and Mario Bahg (Cassio).
Opera stories open up new worlds, new experiences, new emotions; and they allow us to connect with what we ourselves are feeling and help us make sense of those feelings, and Verdi’s ‘Othello’ did just that.
‘Othello’ is a must-see opera for all Verdi (and Teatro Verdi) lovers, on stage again tonight, 5 November, at 4 pm. Followed by Sunday at 4 pm, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8.30 pm.
