This Wednesday, November 16th, SISSA’s Aula Magna hosted the opening ceremony of the 2022-23 Academic Year, the 44th since the foundation of the University.
SISSA’s Director Andrea Romanino welcomed the new students as well as the old ones praising all of the scientists in the room. “The values of our school – dedication and studious rigor – are forever imprinted in all of our students and alumni. Today we decided to play the special emphasis on the open science, the topic in which SISSA pioneered.”
Romanino was followed by Lectio Magistralis, entitled “Open Science: What, Why, Who and How. An (astro)physicist perspective”, given by the professor in physics and astronomy at the University of Barcelona, Licia Verde. Verde underlined the “irreversible process of scientific openness”, specifying that “open, doesn’t necessarily mean free or simple.”
The opening ceremony was followed by a musical performance by the Tartini Conservatory students.
