In every season Muggia is a great idea. It’s the place to just sit, relax and take this beautiful season in. Any season is great to walk in the city, visit the castle, cultural events in the Carà Museum, and have a scrumptious meal in one of the restaurants in front of the sea.

Fall in Muggia is the time to prepare for one of the biggest events in our region – the Carnival of Muggia. It is so big that many people come from all over Italy to experience it.

People saw, cut, build, color for months – it’s Muggia’s pride and it’s taken really seriously out here.

The most awaited moment of the Carnival is certainly the final parade in the center of the city. Every company presents a topic and, a jury considers the costumes, the floats, the single details, to choose the winner at the end of the day. But Carnival is not only this, It’s a week of music, events, entertainment, for all ages.

While you’re getting ready for the Carnival, don’t forget to enjoy many Muggia’s attractions. For example, the grand church and archaeological park in “Old Muggia”. Climbing up the hill you arrive at the basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, a perfectly preserved medieval building. Nearby there is a signposted itinerary, to explore the ancient ruins that have been discovered over time. The visit is free, and from here the view is extraordinary!

Another great spot to visit is Museo Carà: art museum, a donation by Ugo Carà to the Municipality of the city. Events and exhibitions take place throughout the year. www.facebook.com/museocaramuggia/

Not to mention the Aquario: an area that has been restyled a few years ago includes free beach, a volleyball court, a skate park and beach bars open in summer during the day as well as in the evening. A perfect spot to savor a beautiful sunset!

While you’re on your fall walk around town, take time to discover the small pathways: a stroll through the streets of the historical center offers beautiful views and corners, colorful houses, flowered balconies, with many small details. Perfect for picture taking!

Every great visit of this beautiful town ends in trattorias in the center: for a break with a good glass of wine, a fish dish or simply an aperitif a few steps from the sea, the historical center is buzzing with small typical places, a must try!
