A free jazz concert this Sunday, 5 February at 6 pm will be held at the municipal theater of Bagnoli della Rosantra (Trieste) dedicated to Duke Ellington.
Sunday 5 February 2023 at 18.00 at the Municipal Theater “France Prešeren” in Bagnoli della Rosandra (TS) as part of the new project dedicated to Duke Ellington, will be held – in co-organization with the Municipality of San Dorligo della Valle – Občina Dolina – the show of the Trieste Early Jazz Orchestra conducted by Tom Hmeljak “The Duke: a legend named Ellington”.
Solo voice Paolo Venier with the participation of the Trio Sophisticated Ladies composed by Jasna Gornik, Rosa Mussin and Sara Roversi and the tap dancer Greta Rizzotti. Artistic director, Livio Laurenti.
The monographic concert, dedicated to the greatest composer and bandleader in the history of jazz, Duke Ellington, is the newest project of the Trieste Early Jazz Orchestra, which has been filling theaters and squares for more than a decade now.
Masterpieces such as “Take The A Train”, “Caravan”, “Mood Indigo” and many others among the most representative of Ellington’s production will be presented.
The event will be enriched by some interventions by the young tap dancer Greta Rizzotti.
“Since at the time it was common not only to listen but also to dance to jazz music – explains the artistic director, Livio Laurenti -, in Tejo’s concerts tap dance interventions could not be missing, with the participation of the young and talented dancer Greta Rizzotti “.
The event is free and is organized by the Nuova multimusica Cultural Association in co-organization with the Municipality of San Dorligo della Valle – Občina Dolina.
The project, which is being carried out in collaboration with the Council of Europe – Venice Office, enjoys the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
