Lyrical tragedy in two acts (1830) by Vincenzo Bellini in a libretto by Felice Romani will enchant Trieste public on the theater Verdi’s stage this Friday, 24 February at 8.30 pm.

The opera is under the musical direction of Enrico Calesso, directed by Arnaud Bernard, with Caterina Ssala (Giulietta), Laura Verrecchia (Romeo), Paolo Battaglia (Capellio ), Emanuele Cordaro (Lorenzo) and the Orchestra and Chorus of the Verdi theater of Trieste.

In the opera The Capulets and the Montagues, the story of Romeo and Juliet is transcended by Vincenzo Bellini who traces the story back to the Italian roots of the work. The quarrel between the two families becomes a real war. The true story of Romeo and Juliet, replaced by the names of Capulet and Montaigue, is revealed by the composer through reviving a scene that Shakespeare had omitted: Juliet can exchange a few words with her beloved before falling asleep forever. True love truly realized with the tender music of Bellini.
