The Verdi theater is finishing this season on a high note (pun intended) with the last opera of the season on stage tonight – the tantalizing ‘Turandot’ by Giacomo Puccini.
Davide Raimondii’s dazzling vision of mythic China retakes the stage, with soprano Kristina Kolar back at the Verdi theater as the legendary—and lethal—title princess, opposite tenor Amadi Lagha as the valiant prince who puts his life on the line to win her love. Sopranos Ilona Revolskaya and Angela Nisi alternate as Liù, with basses Gabriele Sagona and Marco Spotti as Timur. Maestro Jordi Bernacer makes his Verdi theater debut leading Puccini’s rousing score.
Opening night: Friday 12 May at 8.30 pm.
