The city of Trieste will turn into a golf course this weekend with the In City Golf event taking over our city and inviting everyone to score a hole in one.
The event, scheduled for 19 and 20 May in the city center, is called In City Golf and is presented by Modbar. 18 holes and players from all over the world will turn Trieste into an actual golf course.
The balls will be launched from the terrace of the Police Headquarters in the center of the Roman Theater, and again from the Banks inside a moored sailboat, and then from one side of the canal Ponterosso to the other. Among the most original shots are also the launches that will have to end up inside a cement mixer located in Piazza della Borsa or inside a parked Porsche. Competitors will also have to face other precision and speed tests, for example, they will be asked to hit some goals in the shortest possible time or to knock down a series of pins, as in bowling.
72 golf enthusiasts from the United States, Slovenia, Portugal, Austria, Germany, Holland and of course Italy will face each other.

“We are very happy to bring the event here for the first time – underlines the organizer Kurt Anrather – Trieste is splendid and we have found a great collaboration in all the subjects involved in the event, I am thinking for example of the Police Headquarters, which will give us the possibility to make an incredible launch from the terrace. Players have responded with great enthusiasm and the event will also ensure a special showcase for the city. There will be a television analysis of the Orf channel and several journalists will come from abroad to follow the competition”.
Testimonial is the champion of the discipline Giulia Sergas, an internationally acclaimed golfer from Trieste. And authorities and entrepreneurs from all over Europe will also be present. Among the players also the regional councilor Fabio Scoccimarro.
The program includes the presentation of “Southwest Greens Central Europe IN CITY GOLF Trieste 2023” at the Club House Caffè degli Specchi in Piazza Unità d’Italia on Friday evening at 8 pm. Saturday appointment always in the square, when the guests will arrive at 10 and the tournament will start at 11, continuing until 17. In the evening there will be an aperitif and a gala dinner reserved for sponsors and participants, with the official award ceremony.
Curiously, the balls used for the event will be 5 thousand, made of a special material, a sort of foam. Those that end up in the water on the Banks will be collected with the precious support of some means of the Auxiliary Coast Guard, while on the Ponterosso canal the help will be provided by some rowers. Along the course, a team of students from the Da Vinci-Carli-Sandrinelli school of tourism will accompany the players between one hole and another.
