From the Festival of Cherries in Caresana, San Dorligo della Valle to Sapori Pro Loco in Villa Manin, Codroipo… it promises to be a weekend full of opportunities!

If you didn’t make any plans for this weekend, take note of these tips: from Friday 26th of May to Sunday 28th two events will take place in different parts of the region, Festival of Cherries in the village of Caresana, San Dorligo della Valle (Trieste) and Sapori Pro Loco 2023 in Codroipo (Udine).

The end of May is close, summer is around the corner and we are ready to welcome all the juicy fruits of the season!

This weekend is going to be all about cherries: Sagra delle Ciliegie, the festival of cherries will start at 6 pm on Friday and will be dedicated not only to the red fruit, but also to music, concerts, dances and other regional products. Taking a look at the program, you’ll have the chance to listen to several musicians and groups such as Kraški muzikantje, Time out, Vecia Trieste orchestra and Nebojsega.

On the other side of the region, the 20th edition of Sapori Pro Loco will take place at the historical venue of Villa Manin.

Starting at 6pm on Friday, twenty-five regional organizations will present their typical food and beverages, local wines and artisan beers to the public. Whilst enjoying the culinary side of the festival, you’ll be entertained by artistic and cultural events of all kinds: discovering the park of Villa Manin, visiting the church of San Lorenzo in Varmo, visiting the Museum of Chariots, taking part in a clay workshop or a chocolate laboratory are only some of the activities of the weekend. The entrance ticket is 8 euro, but the access to the Chapel of Sant’Andrea Apostolo, the Sacristy, the park and some of the exhibitions is free of charge.

All you have to do is decide where to spend the weekend and enjoy it!

I define myself as an unconventional expat: I lived in Budapest for five years and I recently moved back to Trieste. Today I look at my homeland with different eyes, I love to (re)discover places of my childhood or to find new spots around the region. Living abroad and traveling around made me an open-minded and tolerant person and my studies in foreign languages and journalism gave me the right amount of creativity and curiosity to never stop exploring.
