The Rossetti theater released their big news on Wednesday – the announcement of the international cast of the first ever Italian premier of the “Phantom of the Opera”, starring Tony Award nominee Ramin Karimloo, on theater’s stage this 4 July.
Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s The Phantom of the Opera will open for the first time in Italy at Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia in Trieste on 4th July 2023.
The production will be presented by Broadway Italia in its original language, English and directed by Federico Bellone (Dirty Dancing, Phoenix Theatre/Dominion Theatre and Mary Poppins, Italy).
Leading the cast as The Phantom is Olivier and Tony Award nominee Ramin Karimloo, who has previously played the role in London’s West End, Korea and in the 25th Anniversary Concert at The Royal Albert Hall.
Alongside the star Ramin Karimloo and the talented Italian-American soprano Amelia Milo who will play Christine, director Federico Bellone and the creative team have selected a group of excellent, internationally acclaimed performers. Bradley Jaden will play Raoul, the Viscount of Chagny. Bradley is an English actor with a brilliant career, already applauded in important West End productions such as Les Misérables (Javert and Enjolras) and Wicked (Fiyero), Jaden once again shares the stage with his friend Ramin Karimloo, after the 2022 musical ‘Camelot’.
Another name that will leave fans breathless is the one chosen for the role of Monsieur André: Earl Carpenter. His voice struck the notes of all the musical’s roles: a beloved artist both in London and on Broadway, he shone in an eclectic repertoire, from the Sunset Boulevard to We Will Rock You, from The Beauty and The Beast to his iconic interpretation of Inspector Javert in Les Misérables and of course The Phantom of the Opera in which he recently re-enacted the title role in London’s West End.
Another highly experienced English actor, Ian Mowat, for many years in the cast of The Phantom of the Opera in London, will play the role of Monsieur Firmin. For the characters who are already of Italian origin in the show, Carlotta Giudicelli and Ubaldo Piangi, the creative team looked to the world of opera, from which Anna Corvino and Gian Luca Pasolini respectively come, both singers with significant international careers. Anna Corvino has performed with important orchestras such as the Symphonette Raanana Orchestra of Israel, the Kiev Orchestra and that of the Pucciniano Festival of Torre del Lago and was conducted by Riccardo Muti at the Ravenna Festival. Gian Luca Pasolini, on the other hand, has collaborated with some of the major theater institutions in the world: his tenor voice was applauded at the Maggio Musicale under the direction of Zubin Mehta and at the Teatro alla Scala, as well as being directed by maestros such as Daniel Barenboim and Myung Whun Chung.
