One of Trieste’s oldest and beloved film festivals, ShorTS International Film Festival, is back in town for its 24th edition.

The 2023 events, which will last from 1st July to 8 July , are to be hosted live in various venues around town, from Giardino Pubblico Muzio de Tommasini, to Teatro Miela, with free entrance to all events.

ShorTS IFF is a competitive festival dedicated to short films from around the world, which include independent Italian cinema.

ShorTS promotes young Italian and international cinema through a high quality program both in film content (shorts, feature films and documentaries) and cultural activities such as workshops, meetings, special events and gatherings that create links between young emerging talents and professionals in the sector.

ShorTS IFF aims to introduce the genre of the short film to a young and diverse audience. There will be a total of 136 films, by talented, young, creative directors and artists from all over the world.

The digital platform MyMovies will offer free viewing of all the shorts and animated films collected throughout the year by the restless organizers of the association Maremetraggio.

Well-known professionals of the field will also share their expertise and works in what is considered today one of the best short film festivals in Italy.

The detailed program of the festival is available in Italian and English on www.maremetraggio.com.

“Born to Italian-Scottish parents, an explosive combination, reason for my restlessness and love for good food, I’ve moved from San Francisco, California to Trieste 20 years ago. I have a degree in Mass Communication from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master’s degree in International Cooperation from the Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari in Pisa. In San Francisco I worked for several years as a journalist and press officer before moving to Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo and other war stricken countries with the United Nations. I am a professional journalist and English teacher, I love the outdoors, exploring caves and unusual places, travelling, meeting people, the opera, singing, the scent of the sea and the whistle of the wind. No other city in the world other than Trieste can offer all this.”
