Looking for something spectacular to do tonight outside of our region? Hop on the train to Venice and take part in the annual ‘Festa del Redentore’ celebration culminating in breathtaking fireworks tonight.

If there is an event that has everyone in agreement, that’s the Festa del Redentore: the Venetians wait all year long with anticipation, but tourists love it too, especially for the extraordinary fireworks display over St Mark’s Basin.

The festa is held every year on the third weekend of July and has very ancient origins: Venetians celebrate the end of the terrible plague that struck Venice between 1575 and 1577, killing 50,000 people, almost a third of its inhabitants.

We suggest getting on the train to Venice and celebrating together with locals.
