Carried out by outdoor experts Cotswold Outdoor, the study ranks 43 European destinations by their potential for the perfect active honeymoons for nature lovers.
Italy has been revealed as the seventh-best destination jointly with Poland for outdoor honeymooning in 2023.
- Honeymooners won’t be bored, Italy has more outdoor activities than anywhere else, with 1,717 — more than 5x the European average (options include wine and cheese tasting outside Florence, horseback riding in Tuscany, and dolphin spotting).
- The country boasts 13,567 hiking trails – romantic and truly escapist routes include walking on the road less island of Marettimo and skinny-dipping in the secluded waterfalls of La Maremma. In the category of highly-rated campsites, the country ranks in 4th place offering 524. Norway ranks top whilst Germany, France, Spain and Croatia made the top five. Austria, Poland, the United Kingdom and Greece also completed the top ten.
Italy is a famously romantic destination and a favorite for honeymooners, however this study shines a light on a more alternative and adventurous way to honeymoon in Italy’s beautiful countryside.
