The construction company Ghiaie Ponterosso has begun demolishing the building that housed the Acquamarina thermal pool, a mecca for many a Triestino since its construction in 2000, until its roof collapsed three year ago while the building was fortuitously empty.
“This area is going to be completely renovated,” the mayor of Trieste Roberto Dipiazza told us. “From the new headquarters of the Revenue Agency, to the railway museum, to the new parking lot that will substitute the fruit and vegetable market.”
“A truly important day,” chimed in Elisa Lodi, councilor for public works at the Municipality of Trieste. “The works will terminate in a couple of months and we have already met the engineer who’s working on the new thermal pool project.”
