From 9 September to 22 December Trieste will have eight appointments with the orchestra, the city, and some of the most interesting soloists in the world.

Symphonic music returns to Trieste this year in collaboration with the Trieste Concert Society. The season will be full of delight offering eight wide-ranging programs at the Verdi Theater. The main purpose is to create an artistic circle that highlights local and international musicians, such as Harmut Haenchen and Enrico Calesso. On the other hand, Trieste wants to promote rare talents in the city, little known in Italian scenes, but recognized in the German-speaking territories.

The Artistic Director Paolo Rodda underlines: “I am very happy that the centenary of Conscience has given us the possibility to bring Viozzi’s music back to the Verdi stage, which should be heard by the whole Italian musical community and I hope it is only the ‘beginning of a journey of rediscovery of this illustrious and brilliant fellow citizen”. This is an opportunity, not only for the Italian community, to attend extraordinary concerts with esteemed artists like Antonio Meneses, a Brazilian cellist, or Angela Hewitt, a Canadian pianist and conductor.

With these first two concerts, on 9 and 12 September, the Trieste Concert Society will be inaugurated, strengthening the role of the Verdi theater on Trieste’s cultural scene.

Another reason not to miss the experience is the special contribution of the Theater to “Zeno’s Conscience”, an open program with music of Italo Svevo, for symphony orchestra by Giulio Viozzi, the founding composer from the twentieth century, and the least performed today despite his recognition in the musical world.

The Superintendent Giuliano Polo reasserts that the sounds, versatility and reliability in the Symphonic are the “treasure” that must be shipped towards the future. For him, the key is to face challenges and go through them with the same commitment daily.
