‘Trieste Estate’ Events 31 July – 8 August

The week from 31 July to 6 August takes off once again full of events for everyone, not only in the city centre, but also in the districts with the “Fuoricentro” offer.

In the Public Garden “Il Giardino del cinema” continues offering open-air movies every evening. 

Monday 31st July

Valerio Lundini returns to Trieste together with his band, the Vazzanikki, with the musical show “Canzoni Carine Altre Meno”, at the San Giusto Castle on Monday 31 July at 21. Comedian, musician, writer and actor who has become very famous in the last three years thanks to the nonsense program “Una pezza di Lundini” on Rai2. It will be an ironic show, full of gags, between music and comedy, with swing, rockabilly influences and moments of improvisation with the audience. Event organized by Good Vibrations Entertainment Srl. and Vigna PR srl.

At the same time in Piazza Verdi a great dancing evening with “Kletzmer for dancing”, an evening with two klezmer groups from the region, who will play the overwhelming popular Jewish music in Yiddish.

Tuesday 1st August

The exhibition “Archaeology in the evening” takes off in the Garden of the Winckelmann Museum of Antiquities. Surrounded by the mystical atmosphere of a place steeped in history,  “The Museum of Surprises. Journey into prehistory with Carlo Marchesetti”, will take your breath away this Tuesday 1st August at 8.30pm. It begins with the screening of a documentary on the main character who shed light on our antiquities, followed by musical interventions by the instrumental group Lumen Harmonicum. The event is organized in collaboration with the University of Trieste.

At 21 in Piazza Verdi, the Rainbow Wind Orchestra will celebrate women through the music of different eras and places in the “Woman” concert. The repertoire will range from songs made famous by female singers, Italian songwriters, but also songs that speak of women ‘different from the usual’.

Wednesday 2nd August

“There is no rose without thorns”, a journey between the couples of history with operetta stars, will be staged on Wednesday 2 August at 9 pm in the Garden of the Sartorio Museum. From Adam and Eve to Carlotta and Massimiliano, the thorns of their love in music will be interpreted by Daniela Mazzucato, Myriam and Max Cosotti, Alessandro Colombo and Ennio Ficiur. Sebastiano Frattini on the violin. An event organized by the International Association of Operetta FVG.

Thursday 3 August

“Suonare Cantare” begins on Thursday 3 August, the first edition of the independent music festival dedicated to local authors. This first evening of the summer edition will feature Paola Rossato, Billy Curti and Massimo Serli. Event at the pastor of the Drustvo Illiryamusic Association.

Friday 4th August

The theater returns to Piazza Verdi with the multifaceted show “Milan – Trieste (round trip)”, organized by Bonawentura/Teatro Miela, starting at 9pm. A surreal succession of music, theatrical dialogues and sketches on the wandering souls of Gaber and Jannacci who meet Luttazzi, Strehler, Nereo Rocco and others from Trieste.

Also at 21 at the Sartorio there will be the second evening of “Suonare Cantare” with the musicians Miriam Baruzza-Illirya, Frank Get and Giovanni Zacchigna.

Saturday 5th August

At 9 pm, the Garden of the Sartorio Museum offers an intense theater and live music show entitled “Barefoot on the edge of the world – Sounds and voices along the border”. The dramaturgical path is centered on the theme of the frontier as opposed to that of the border. A co-production Tinaos and Vitamina T by and with Angelo Floramo, with music performed live by the group Fior delle Bolge.

At the same time, “Che coss’è l’amor?” is staged in Piazza Verdi, an introspective journey through songs, music, poetry and words to discover the noblest sentiment in the world. Edited by Ventrella design s.a.s.

Sunday 6 August

In Piazza Verdi at 9 pm the appointment is with the Tozzi Tribute Band “Nell’aria c’è”, a tribute evening to one of the greatest Italian songwriters: Umberto Tozzi. The public will be the protagonist and will sing with the group throughout the concert. The tap dance performance of the Toc Toc school of Trieste will open the evening.

At the Garden of the Sartorio Museum, however, the inimitable life of Gabriele d’Annunzio will be told in the show “Your life I love, the genius, your soul”, written and directed by Raffaele Sincovich, who will also be an interpreter together with Sara Cechet Woodcock. The music is by Alessandro Mandarini, drawings by Andrea Tich. Event curated by the cultural association Atto Quinto.

Trieste Estate is organized by the Municipality of Trieste – Department of Culture and Tourism Policies, with the collaboration of the Department of Education and Family Policies and the Department of Territorial Policies, with the support of PromoTurismoFVG and the collaboration of Trieste Convention & Visitors Bureau, with the artistic direction of Gabriele Centis for the musical part and Lino Marrazzo for the prose theatre.
