This weekend the Castle of San Giusto is inviting Trieste locals as well as visitors to take a trip down a historical memory lane.
The appointment is this Saturday 19 and Sunday 20, for the summer edition of “The Seasons of Weapons”. The participation is free, you’ll just need to purchase the entrance ticket to the castle.
The Company D’Arme Malleus and the Historical Group want to offer visitors the chance to learn about the seventeenth century, in a dynamic and entertaining way. The actors will lead the public to the panoramic spaces and experiences through Trieste’s view, in an educational itinerary.
Participants in the guided tours will be taken back in time to 1636, the year in which the fortress was completed with the construction of the third bastion, triangular in shape, called Bastione Fiorito or Pomis, named after the imperial architect Giovanni Pietro de Pomis. In reality, even after this defensive architectural innovation, the castle remained mostly the residence of the Captain, a figure who inspires the musketeers and duelists, who will demonstrate their fencing skills to visitors.
The fire arms use will be explained, giving visitors the opportunity to learn about cutting and fire weapons of the 17 century.
Guided tours, open to adults and children, will be held at the usual times (10.30, 11.45, 15.00, 16.15 and 17.30).
