The tenth edition of Maker Faire Trieste is scheduled for 2 and 3 September at Piazza Unità. During the weekend young people will have a chance to learn about science while having fun.
Exploring, playing, and trying diverse experiments children are motivated to get closer to technology, innovation and creativity.
For two days Trieste’s center will bring inventors, creatives, scientists and above all makers, with technological attractions, experiments and technological and scientific laboratories for everyone. The Faire made its debut in 2014, and this tenth edition celebrates the event with a Science Picnic, full of interactive workshops.
Mayor Roberto Dipiazza highlighted the importance of these kinds of initiatives to promote science in Trieste, which is already a scientific city. The main goal is to offer a space where curiosity could be satisfied and some “complicated” things can be transformed into something “easy”. The experience could make a huge difference and create a connection that inspires future professionals to choose a path connected with technology and science.
The city will welcome more than 200 makers from Udine, Gorizia, Pordenone, and Trieste itself. However, the expectation is to also receive participants from other Italian regions and Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and Slovakia.
Commercial exhibitors that created their own products will join the Maker Faire this time, adding the entrepreneurship interest in the values of the initiative . On Sunday 3 September Massimo Banzi, co-founder of Arduino and “spiritual father” of Italian makers, will also be a guest on the stage of the event to talk about the future of technology and innovation.
Visitors can choose their favorite activity and take it hands-on. The Maker Faire Trieste has a special guest on the list. The event will be animated by part of the Ice Age Exhibition that brings a giant mammoth skeleton of 4 meters tall.
