Nine chefs, an exceptional menu using raw materials that come from the sea and have a low environmental impact, and products – fish in particular – from a short supply chain – these are the key ingredients of the ninth edition of the Barcolana Sea Chef presented by Prosecco DOC, the event scheduled for Wednesday 4 October from 8pm, this year at the Castello di San Giusto.
Created in 2014, the Barcolana Sea Chef presented by Prosecco DOC is an event that combines sailing and haute cuisine, starred chefs and passion for sailing.
If maximum confidentiality is kept about the dishes, the chefs announce themselves today, strictly in order of stars: Bobo Cerea (3 Michelin stars, Ristorante Da Vittorio), Emanuele Scarello (2 Michelin stars, Ristorante Agli Amici 1887,) Matteo Metullio and Davide De Pra (2 Michelin stars, Harry’s Piccolo), Pino Cuttaia (2 stars, La Madia), Caterina Ceraudo (1 Michelin star and one Green Star, Il Dattilo), Marianna Vitale (1 star, Il Sud), Tomaž Kavčič (1 star , Zemono) plus, as per tradition, the host Franco Favaretto, of Baccalàdivino, and the pastry chef, winner of the Discovery Gem Award, Gianluca Fusto.
“It will be an exceptional event, which once again brings haute cuisine to Trieste and unites it with sailing – declared the President of the Barcola and Grignano Sailing Society, Mitja Gialuz – we are looking forward to having the chefs in Trieste to give value to the sustainable supply chain, visibility at the Barcolana in an interesting market segment for our partners and with the aim of amplifying the image of our territory”.
From Sunday 24 September tickets are on sale and are expected to go fast as the simultaneous presence of so many excellent chefs is rare: “What brings together these great characters of haute cuisine – he commented again Gialuz – is the spirit of Barcolana, and the passion with which, before meeting in the kitchen, the chefs will race in the Gulf in the morning. I want to thank Matteo Metullio, Emanuele Scarello and Franco Favaretto and all the staff for the extraordinary work done”.
Alongside the nine “signature” dishes, there are further exceptional partners: the evening will feature Consorzio Tutela Prosecco DOC, Villa Russiz, Illycaffè, Dolomia and Tosolini, as well as the music of the “Duo Tony and Katy”. The event will also have a training part, because the service will be managed together with the children who attend the Stringher professional institute specializing in food and wine and hotel hospitality services in Udine.
The location of the event is also new, scheduled – thanks to the support of the Municipality of Trieste – at the San Giusto Castle in the halls of the former “Bottega del Vino”. Thanks to the new location it will be possible to accommodate 180 people.
Tickets cost 200 euro and can be purchased here.
