Vegan Meetup Trieste, the first initiative that aims to promote the plant-based diet and vegan lifestyle, active until now only on social media, presents and launches its website: www.veganmeetup.it to celebrate its third birthday.
Born on 13 September 2020, from the idea of Martina Pluda and Athina Krokos, Vegan Meetup Trieste acts as a catalyst to create an open and inclusive community of vegans, vegetarians and curious people and acts as a bridge with local vegan-friendly realities to accelerate the expansion of the plant offering in the area; now also via its own website.
The protagonist of the site is the map which currently collects 60 addresses with vegan offers, including clubs, hotels, shops and other businesses present in Trieste, but also in Muggia, Grado, Moruzzo and Tarvisio. The ambition is to expand the number and type of activities reported as well as the collaborations with them, to offer moments of aggregation, discounts and advantages to the “Veganmeetuppers” community.

Among the many noteworthy entities, the studio in Opicina of Dr. Alessandra Leonori, physiotherapist and nutritionist specializing in plant-based nutrition, stands out; Il Melograno, a pizzeria-restaurant present in Trieste, Palmanova and Udine which was the first to be included in the Vegan Meetup Trieste circuit; The Osteria di Casa Pepe which was the first to create a collaborative menu, still an integral part of the restaurant’s culinary offer and particularly appreciated; the Trieste pastry shops Liberty, Charlotte and Un Mondo Senza Glutine which offer traditional desserts and much more in a veg (and gluten-free) version; Intro Foods, very young producers of artisanal kombucha in Aurisina; EATALY Trieste with which the first vegetable cooking courses were launched, always sold-out. In the region the Tamai refuge which also allows skiers and veg hikers to refresh themselves with gusto; Al Tiglio Cucina Naturale, a point of reference in the panorama of vegan catering in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and in Italy; Il Fauno – Rebel farm, former dairy goat farm converted into a sanctuary for free animals, located in the Pordenone area.
In construction since 2021, the site was created pro bono by young digital professionals from Trieste, Alice Biagi and Paolo Beltrame, with the creative support of illustrator Petra Debelis. Vegan Meetup Trieste is a self-financed initiative founded on the voluntary commitment of the two initiators and the people who decide to kindly make their resources available. It is possible to support it via the Ko-fi crowdfunding platform which allows you to donate small sums, equal to the cost of a coffee – or an item of soya beans.
