Exhibition On Winds In Villa Italia Open Until 8 October

The exhibition dedicated to prints, cartography and various curiosities about the winds called “Borea in the Rose of the Winds” is open in the beautiful Villa Italia until 8 October.

A “full immersion” into the wind seen from three angles: the Adriatic with the perception of the size of the world, the economic and cultural characteristics, travel and maritime maps from the Greek portion to the Gulf of Venice; Mythology and Art with the roots of the myth of the wind, the Attic crater of Boreas and Orizia, Dante and the meaning of the verse “Fatti non fuste a viver come bruti”; finally the Navigation with notes on the relationship of Trieste with the wind, the shapes and symbols of the Rose of the Winds in the Middle Ages and in modern times, including the map exhibited in Rome which anticipated Columbus’ routes found folded in eight parts.

The exhibition is set up by the Fiamme Crimisi Association in collaboration with the Western Friuli Historical Museum. The exhibition, promoted by the FVG Army Military Command, will stay open until Sunday 8 October.
