More than 700 noted Italian buildings and historic sites open to the public for free on the weekend of 14-15 October as part of the Giornate FAI d’Autunno event.

The annual autumn open days initiative organised by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI) will allow entry into palaces, villas, castles, churches, gardens, theatres and libraries in 350 towns and cities across Italy.

Many of the participating sites are not normally open to the public or are difficult to visit.

Some of the Trieste treats in store include guided tours of the Town hall (Municipio), the University of Trieste as well as a guided tour in the Villa Trieste De Benedetti. Full list can be found here.
