Friuli Venezia Giulia’s governor Massimiliano Fedriga met US President Joe Biden during an annual gala event organized by the National Italian American Foundation in Washington D.C. on Saturday night, where the region of FVG was announced the “Region of Honor” in 2024, with the aim of strengthening the bond between Italy and U.S.
NIAF’s Region of Honor program partners with one of Italy’s 20 regions every year, and is a marketing opportunity for a region to showcase its history, landmarks, natural resources, artisans, industries, cuisine and culture in an effort to promote tourism and economic development as well as to highlight the region’s businesses and entrepreneurs on the international. In 2024 this opportunity will be give to Friuli Venezia Giulia.
“The meeting with the president of the United States Joe Biden and the honor of Friuli Venezia Giulia to be come the Region of Honor 2024 by the National Italian American Foundation (Niaf) fill us with pride. We already had an operational meeting with Niaf to discuss collaborative actions in view of Region of Honor 2024”, said governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga, a comment on his meeting with the President of the United States at the 48th Gala anniversary of the NIAF
Every year Niaf collaborates with a Region in Italy to promote its culture and investment opportunities in our country. The Region of Honor 2023 for the Association of Italian Americans is Emilia-Romagna, represented at the event by its president Stefano Bonaccini.
“The steps taken in this mission – continued Fedriga – have allowed us to achieve this important result that it represents a very important opportunity to present ours excellence to such a vast and qualified audience and strengthen the trade relations between the United States and Italy, in particular with Friuli Venezia Giulia”.
Fedriga underlined how this result was possible thanks to the commitment of the regional Administration in promotion of Friuli Venezia Giulia also through participation in international meetings and missions. Among the most relevant in terms of promoting and attracting investments, presence at Expo Dubai in February 2022 and in the United States, with a double mission in July and October last year in addition to participation in the main international fairs.
Niaf’s annual event celebrates Italy’s rich culture and brings together economic, political and cultural leaders celebrated almost fifty years of the Foundation’s work and successes Italian Americans since its inception in 1975.
