Walking surrounded by the evocative landscape of olive trees, which cover our hills in every part of Italy, is the unique experience offered by the National Day of the Walk among the Olive Trees, an initiative promoted by the Città dell’Olio Association, which takes place on Sunday 29 October in the 158 Italian cities.
On Sunday 29 October Friuli Venezia Giulia will be the protagonist of the seventh edition of the Walk among the Olive Trees. The walk will take place in Duino Aurisina (TS), Manzano (in the province of Udine, new this year), Muggia (TS), San Dorligo della Valle Dolina (TS) and Trieste (TS), with trekking routes, tastings of bread and oil, visits to the oil mills, olive harvesting experiences, discovering the production of olive oil through local companies.
“It is a consolidated event that takes place throughout Italy and which also includes the Municipality of Trieste and the neighboring municipalities which produce a significant, but above all excellent, quantity of olive oil – began the deputy mayor Serena Tonel -.. With this initiative aims to associate the economic, productive value with the nutritional one. It is important to safeguard territorial agriculture and enhance the typical products of each territory, as the production system of raw materials linked to the territory also means a high level of uniqueness and quality of the food. This year – continued the deputy mayor Serena Tonel – thanks to the precious collaboration with LILT (Italian League for the Fight against Cancer) and FIF (Italian Liver Foundation), the theme of the Walk is “Evo Oil & Health”. The objective is to promote awareness among participants of the health properties of EVO oil, a timeless and unbeatable ally of health, underlining its beneficial properties and promoting correct daily consumption. Even among the younger generations, there is an increasingly widespread awareness that health depends on a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet.”
